Connecticut Company 1172

1948, General Motors, TDH-3610

History

Seeking to replace the last of the trolleys still in service and retire old buses, some of which dated back to the 1920s, the Connecticut Company ordered 120 of these 36 passenger buses in 1948. On September 25, 1948 Connecticut Company ran the last trolley trip in New Haven thanks to buses just like this one, ending the trolley era that began in 1905.

1172 was assigned to the Hartford Division which had already ended trolley service in 1941. It was finally retired in 1974 after 26 years of service.
